Lunch With a Veteran?
Memorial Day weekend at Arlington is always a busy time and this year will be no exception. On Sunday, May 27th, there is a full day of events with the Annual Flag Rasing Ceremony being the centerpiece. However, there will be activities before and after the ceremony that will be of interest to Arlington visitor and the entire community.
From 11:00 AM - 12:45 PM, Arlington will again sponsor its "Lunch With a Veteran" in the area across from the Garden of Patriotism. While Memorial Day is a time to remember those who have given their life in service to the country, we also like to recognize those who have served in the military. This is open to any member of the community who is a veteran or would like to "break bread" with a veteran. At 1:00 PM, the Flag Raising Ceremony begins and will last approximately 45 minutes. And then, at 2:30 - 4:00 PM, the Cincinnati Civic Orchestra will perform on the South Lawn of Arlington Lake with music heavily influenced with patriotic tunes.
Beginnig on Friday, May 25th, we will again erect our "Memory Wall" in the vicinity of the Arlington Reception Center. Visitors can personalize messages of trbutes or remembrances of loved ones. This wall will remain in place until Monday, June 4th.
Of course, it is tradition to decorate the memorial sites of loved ones and we encourage one and all to maintain that tradition. However, we do ask visiotrs and decorators to comply with all of our policies. For a review of those policies, follow this link.
